This limited edition LAMY 2000 set is celebrating 60 years since the creation of the iconic pen in 1966. It comes with a bog oak LAMY 2000 fountain pen with a 14k gold nib in extra-fine, fine, or medium, and a 144 page high quality notebook with a linen cover and 4mm dot grid ruled paper, which also includes 15 pages of LAMY 2000 history in the back pages. The pen and notebook are all set in high quality gift set packaging, well suited for the collectible nature of this special pen.

This LAMY 2000, LAMY's flagship fountain pen, is made of bog oak wood with a brushed stainless steel grip section and cap. Bog oak is a unique type of wood, and rare to find on any fountain pen. When oak trees fall in swamps or get buried at the bottom of river beds, they become encased in mud and essentially become fossilized over the series of hundreds or thousands of years. The wood becomes dark all throughout by this unique and natural phenomenon, and it's not something that can be created, only discovered.

The pen features a hooded rhodium-plated 14k gold nib (identical to the nibs on all other LAMY 2000's if you're familiar with those) and uses a piston-filling mechanism to fill from bottled ink. The pen is similar in weight to the Stainless Steel LAMY 2000, but unposted it's about the weight of a posted polycarbonate 2000, so reasonably comfortable. The overall size and shape is similar to the recognizable 2000, but the diameter of the pen is slightly larger than all other 2000's we've seen, something special and interesting. There were a total of 1,966 pens made and each pen is numbered on the left side of the polished clip. There's a special logo "LAMY 60" etched near the top of the cap opposite the clip.

Note: To ensure quality performance, LAMY tests their pens as a final step in manufacturing. If you happen to see any residual blue ink, rest assured that this is normal.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill a fountain pen with ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the pen's filling mechanism, which you can find in the Technical Specs section above.

Here's a quick definition of the most common filling mechanisms:

  • Cartridge - A small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write! Check out our quick guide here.
  • Converter - A detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter. Here's a video for how to fill a cartridge/converter pen using a LAMY pen as an example.
  • Eyedropper - A pen that utilizes the entire barrel as a reservoir for ink. Ink is directly filled into the barrel, allowing for a high ink capacity. Here's a video on how to do it!
  • Piston - A type of filling system that uses a retracting plunger inside a sealed tube to draw ink into a pen. They are typically either twist or push-operated. These pens cannot accept cartridges or a converter, and only fill from bottled ink.
  • Vacuum - A push-style piston that uses pressure to fill the large pen body with ink. They seal the ink chamber when closed, making it ideal for flying without risk of leaking. Check out our video on how to use a vac filler here.

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
