TACCIA's Empress Maki-e Golden Herald brings the rooster calling forward a new day in gold, red, and deep lacquer tones, carrying its movement across the full form of the TACCIA Empress LE writing instrument. The majestic bird steps forward with lifted feathers and alert posture, its figure catching the light as polished gold rises from the darker lacquer beneath.

In this piece, Moroike-san captures the rooster as a herald of energy, arrival, and good fortune. Feathered textures, fine linework, warm red accents, and layered metallic powders give the figure a sense of motion and personality, while the surrounding gold signaling the arrival of a new day. As the writing instrument turns in the hand, the composition reveals itself in stages: crest, plumage, lifted body, and the shifting ground beneath.

Golden Herald uses Togidashi maki-e to build a raised and polished effect, giving this collection both texture and depth against the lacquer ground. Raised lacquer, burnished metallic powders, layered gold application, and delicate color accents add dimension to feathers, crest, and atmosphere, allowing the figure to feel sculptural without becoming heavy.

These are heirloom, museum-quality works of lacquer art created around the form and function of a fountain pen. Every surface is built through patient handwork, with layers of lacquer, gold, shell, and texture forming images that reveal themselves slowly over time. This pen is a limited edition of 28 pens worldwide and is equipped with a magnificent two-tone 18K gold nib. The pen fills with either a proprietary Sailor converter or Sailor ink cartridges; both are included.
